Founded in 1991, American Cellular, Inc. grew quickly from its humble beginnings to 46 stores. employing more than 250 people in Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, and North and South Carolina.
In January 2014 American Cellular, Inc was acquired by A Wireless.

A WIRELESS HISTORY >
A Wireless was founded as a partnership in October 1996 in Wilson, North Carolina. We were incorporated as ABC Phones of North Carolina, Inc. in 1999. A Wireless began as an exclusive agent for US Cellular. As we expanded we later became a non-exclusive agent that represented Alltel, Suncom, Cingular, Sprint PCS, T-Mobile, and several other of the country’s leading providers. We are currently an exclusive Premium Retailer for Verizon Wireless. This relationship gives us financial and strategic benefits which we share with our customers on an ongoing basis. A Wireless is a privately-held company headquartered in Greenville, North Carolina. We currently employ over 800 people at 150 locations in 12 states.
